Finding Microplastics From Space?
These scientists are using satellites to find microplastics in our ocean! Using AI, they use spaceborne biostatic radar measurements of the ocean to find areas with more "ocean surface roughness" They have found that an increased density of microplastics in the water makes the area less reactant to wind, making it a "rougher" surface. How cool! We hope that this new method will provide more accurate ways to find high density areas of microplastics, an important step to cleaning up our oceans.
