How Mentorship Helps Underrepresented Minorities Get Involved in STEM

This study shows how minority students are affected by the social aspects of the science community. When under-represented minorities are engaged in the community through mentorship and welcoming research opportunities, the persistence of students continuing a career in science increases greatly. Historically minority scientists experience a lack of belonging in the greater scientific community.
